What are the program dates for Thrive Residency?

          2020/21 program - Aug 1 - May 16

          2021/22 program - July 31 - May 15

What is the cost to enroll in Thrive Residency?

$995 per Resident, paid in two installments. Learn more.

          How many Residents per cohort?

Thrive Residency is limited to 12 residents (6 men, 6 women).

          When is the application deadline?

Our application process includes early and standard application periods. The next standard application deadline is March 15, 2021.

I missed the application deadline. Can I still apply?

Yes. Applications will remain open until enrollment is full. But priority is given to early applicants, so we encourage you to apply before the deadline to ensure your consideration.

What can I expect after I apply?

Applications are reviewed on a continual basis. You will be notified within 10 days whether you've qualified for an initial phone interview, after which you may be approved for a final in-person interview (or video-conference for non-local applicants). Upon completing your final interview, you will receive a letter of intent within 10 days informing you of our decision.

How do I secure my spot upon acceptance?

Submit your $500 Resident Deposit within 15 days of acceptance as outlined in the letter of intent. A $495 Program Fee payment will also be due within 30 days of acceptance. Payment dates may be extended for those in need. Payments are non-refundable.

          Do you offer scholarships?

Thrive Residency will consider payment reductions for applicants who demonstrate financial hardship.

My letter of intent indicates that I'm on the waiting list. What does that mean?
Thrive Residency receives applications that far outnumber our program capacity. As such, a handful of applicants may be placed on our cohort waiting list. Those placed on the waiting list have no guarantee of enrollment, but may receive notification of acceptance anytime up until the cohort start date in the event of a Resident's cancellation.

Do I need a bachelor's degree to apply?

Yes, a college degree is required to be considered for the program.

          Is there an age limit?

Our program is best suited for single adults in their early to mid-20's, but we welcome those of any life stage to apply.

Will I receive graduate-level credits for completing the program?

Yes! Through our partnership with Southeastern Seminary and Carson-Newman University, Residents earn 18 graduate-level credits upon completion of the program. These credits may be applied toward a master's degree at an accredited Christian seminary or university.

What are living arrangements like for Residents?

Thrive Residency provides a 2-story home to the Residents, along with free rent, utilities, WiFi, furnishings, and some cleaning supplies. Male and female residents live on separate levels, each of which have their own separate entry, kitchen, bathroom, dining, and living areas. The home is located across the street from Thrive Lonsdale (our sponsoring org) in the safe, but at-risk neighborhood of Lonsdale, just 2 miles north of downtown Knoxville.

How much will I earn at my 30 hr/wk ministry job?

$1,000/month before taxes. Residents are encouraged to use these monies to budget wisely.

What monthly expenses should I anticipate?
Residents are required to be enrolled in health insurance and auto liability insurance for the duration of the program. Each Resident is to pay his/her share of community living expenses, including food, cleaning and household supplies, etc. Residents are also required to purchase books ($60-$85/semester) and pay a reduced tuition fee ($80/class) upon the start of each of our six master's level academic courses.

What is provided for program-related events and retreats?

Thrive Residency will cover all costs for meals, accommodations, and transportation for program retreats and special group meetings/events.

What about holidays and vacation time?

As a program, we provide Residents with time off for major holidays, including extended days off for Fall/Spring breaks. However, Residents must also get approval from their ministry employers for all holiday and vacation requests.
